Shahi Tukda
A regal treat of golden-fried bread soaked in creamy, cardamom-infused milk, garnished with rich nuts and saffron, offering a taste of royalty in every bite.
Here's a simple recipe for Shahi Tukda:
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of bread
- 100ml milk powder
- 100g sweetened condensed milk (Milkmaid)
- 250ml cow milk
- 1/2 tablespoon Keya Cardamom Powder
- 4 cashew nuts
- 4 almonds
- 1 pinch saffron
- 50g ghee (clarified butter)
Instructions:
1. Begin by cutting the edges of the bread slices and then cutting them into diagonal halves, giving you triangular pieces.
2. Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat.
3. Fry the bread pieces in the ghee until they turn golden brown and crispy. Once done, remove them from the pan and set them aside on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
4. In the same pan, add cow milk and bring it to a simmer.
5. Add milk powder and sweetened condensed milk (Milkmaid) to the simmering milk. Stir continuously to avoid any lumps and let it cook for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.
6. Add cardamom powder and mix well. Allow the mixture to simmer for another 2-3 minutes.
7. Meanwhile, soak saffron in a tablespoon of warm milk and set it aside.
8. Once the milk mixture has thickened to your desired consistency, turn off the heat.
9. Arrange the fried bread pieces in a serving dish or individual plates.
10. Pour the prepared milk mixture over the arranged bread pieces, ensuring that each piece is soaked well.
11. Garnish with chopped cashew nuts, almonds, and the saffron.
12. Let the Shahi Tukda rest for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld together before serving.
Your delicious Shahi Tukda is now ready to be enjoyed!
